Vietnam Airlines plans direct flights to Copenhagen to boost Vietnam-Nordic connectivity

Vietnam Airlines is advancing plans to introduce direct flights between Vietnam and Copenhagen, Denmark, aiming to enhance connectivity between Vietnam and the Nordic region. This strategic move aligns with the airline’s broader objective to expand its European network and cater to the increasing travel demand from Scandinavian countries. In March 2024, Vietnam Airlines’ Chairman, Dang Ngoc Hoa, unveiled expansion plans targeting the European market, with Copenhagen and Milan identified as potential new destinations. By September 2024, the airline confirmed the Hanoi-Milan route, scheduled to commence on July 1, 2025, operating thrice weekly using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. This development marked Vietnam Airlines’ inaugural direct connection to Italy. The focus then shifted to Copenhagen, with discussions intensifying throughout 2024. On February 13, 2025, Danish Ambassador to Vietnam, Nicolai Prytz, met with Vietnam Airlines’ CEO, Le Hong Ha, to explore the feasibility of establishing a direct flight service between Vietnam and Denmark. This meeting underscored the mutual interest in strengthening bilateral ties and facilitating travel between the two nations.<br/>
