A spokeswoman for Air France, who confirmed comments given by CE Frederic Gagey, said the company plans to meet unions by the end of the week. "Air France managed to conduct 80% of flights," the spokeswoman said. Air France pilots went on a four-day strike over pay cuts Saturday that could have disrupted transport plans for football fans during Europe's soccer championship.
Delta will curtail its seasonal nonstop flight from Pittsburgh to Paris a month earlier than promised and scale back what was supposed to be daily service. The carrier will suspend the flight from Pittsburgh International at the end of Sept rather Oct 29, the date it gave in announcing an expansion of the service in January. Back then, the airline also stated it would be operating the flight seven days a week throughout the season, which started May 1. But rather than doing so, it will now scale back the schedule to five days a week starting Sept 6. A Delta spokesman attributed the cuts to weakening demand.
