EasyJet pilots strike in the Netherlands

Dozens of easyJet pilots went on strike in the Netherlands Tuesday over a disagreement with the budget airline about working hours, pensions and sick pay. The 8-hour stoppage began after negotiations between the pilots' union and the airline's management failed to agree on terms of a new collective agreement. EasyJet brought in crews from other airports and there were virtually no flight disruptions out of Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport. The easyJet pilots are unhappy about their working hours, do not receive sick pay and want the company to make larger pension contributions.
EasyJet weighing options in case of Brexit

EasyJet has explored setting up a separate European business if Britain votes to leave the EU, a newspaper reported. With less than two weeks to go, polls show Britons are still evenly split on how to vote. EasyJet, which supports Britain staying in the bloc, has looked at establishing a holding company in order to get an air operator's certificate in an EU country, the Sunday Telegraph reported. It has also examined making more use of its Swiss air operator's certificate and its easyJet Switzerland subsidiary as part of its contingency planning, the newspaper said.
Emirates cooperating in South African antitrust probe

Emirates says it is cooperating with an investigation by South Africa’s competition watchdog into claims it offered travel agents in South Africa incentives to divert sales from its competitors. South Africa’s Business Day newspaper reported June 12 that the Competition Commission was looking into claims Emirates had violated the country’s Competition Act. The airline is under investigation for “abuse of dominance” under Section 8 of the act. Section 8 states that companies cannot “engage in an exclusionary act” including “inducing a... customer to not deal with a competitor.”
