American Airlines pilots’ union says it has learned that while pilots are likely to receive profit sharing payments equal to about 3% of their 2016 salaries, the airline’s management pilots will receive pay-outs as high as 55%. The payout for the highest level management pilots could total US$192,000, according to the Allied Pilots Association. An airline spokesperson said the union is mixing two different kinds of programs. One is a profit sharing plan implemented in March. The other is a performance-based management incentive program which not only requires that the company earn at least $3.5b but also involves individual performance goals. “In profit sharing, everybody shares in the profits,” the spokesperson said. “Management incentive is performance based – you could get zero.” <br/>
