Delta Air Lines' decision to cancel its Dreamliner order is not all bad news for Boeing

Delta Air Lines' decision to cancel an order for 18 787-8 Dreamliner jets, which it inherited during its merger with Northwest Airlines, is not all bad news for Boeing, an aerospace analyst says. "On the face of it, it’s a bigger blow to Delta because they don't get to fly the more fuel-efficient Dreamliner," said Saj Ahmad, chief analyst at Strategic Aero Research. "Meanwhile, Boeing gets more open production slots for customers that want the 787. Plus, Boeing now will be able to sell those 787 slots more profitably, versus the heavy discounting that would have been given at the time of the Northwest order (in 2008), "Ahmad added. "So it’s not all bad news." <br/>
