Delta Air Lines said Monday it remained interested in working with Alitalia after EasyJet said it withdrew from a consortium looking to take over the Italian airline. The carrier said “discussions remain on-going as Alitalia is a long-standing partner of Delta.” EasyJet Monday said it had decided to drop out of a consortium exploring options for the future operations of Alitalia following talks with the other prospective consortium members, Delta and Italian state-owned railway company Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane. EasyJet said it remained committed to serving the Italian market, and that it continues to invest in its 3 bases in Milan, Naples and Venice. Delta said it “continues to explore ways to work with Ferrovie dello Stato and maintain our partnership with Alitalia in the future. <br/>
