Qantas postpones new Airbus, Boeing deliveries

Qantas is pushing back aircraft deliveries for as long as the Covid-19 pandemic persists. “We have advised Boeing and Airbus that we won’t be taking delivery of any new aircraft while the current [Covid-19] crisis continues and present levels of uncertainty persist,” the carrier said. “Naturally enough, we don’t have a timeline for when this means they might arrive.” The carrier did not directly address a query about whether this approach extends to all carriers in the Jetstar Group, but indicates that it is not unique among airlines given that most of the existing global fleet has been grounded. Cirium fleets data show the mainline carrier was expecting another three Boeing 787-9s between August and November. Qantas has 11 787-9s in its existing fleet, having received the first in 2017.<br/>
