Korean Air to follow relevant authorities' directives on Boeing 777

Korean Air Lines Co Ltd said it will follow the relevant authorities’ directives on any measures for its Boeing 777 jets, a Korean Air spokeswoman said Monday. This was after Boeing recommended suspending the use of the jets with the type of engine that shed debris over Denver at the weekend, after U.S. regulators announced extra inspections and Japan suspended their use while considering further action. The airline changed its communicated stance from saying earlier that it planned to ground six of the jets that had been in operation. Korean Air has 16 of the jets, with 10 of them stored, the spokeswoman said.<br/>

Dutch airline KLM to launch package holiday brand

Dutch airline KLM is set to launch its own holiday package deal brand in the Netherlands, as it aims to benefit from a revival of tourism once countries overcome the worst of the coronavirus pandemic. The Dutch arm of airline group Air France-KLM on Monday said it had bought a significant share in Airtrade, a specialist in tourist package deals and airline ticket consolidation. Through this acquisition, for which no financial details were disclosed, it aims to launch ‘KLM Holidays’, to give its existing business offering tourist package deals a boost. “We want to be among the top three tour operators for flight holidays”, KLM Netherlands director Harm Kreulen told the Telegraaf newspaper.<br/>

Delta flight makes emergency landing in Salt Lake City after engine issue

Delta Air Lines said on Monday that Flight DL2123 from Atlanta to Seattle on a Boeing 757-200 made an emergency landing at Salt Lake International Airport after an engine performance issue. A Delta spokeswoman said the plane diverted “out of an abundance of caution following an indicator warning of a possible problem with one of its engines.” The flight landed safely without incident and taxied to the gate without assistance, she said, adding that the company was working to reaccommodate customers on a later flight.<br/>
