United reveals plans for deploying its new star airplane

United's plans for the all-important rollout of the newest addition to the fleet, the Boeing 777-300ER, came into sharper focus Friday. The carrier said that new aircraft will initially fly one round-trip daily, six days a week between United's hub at Newark Liberty International Airport and San Francisco International Airport between Feb. 16 and May 4 next year. United will begin regular intercontinental service with the new plane on March 25, between San Francisco and Hong Kong. The 777-300ER's debut is important for United because the new aircraft will be the first to offer premium-cabin customers the fully-evolved Polaris international business class that launched Dec. 1. All aspects of the new service were in place as of Dec. 1, except for the new lie-flat seat pods. Those seats will debut when the new Boeing 777-300ER goes into service.<br/>
